That Wolfish Grin

Pure self-indulgence, that's all this is. So far I've drawn these two being 1) sweetly affectionate with each other, 2) mournful over the other's demise, and 3) protective and supportive of one another in a time of crisis. It was about time I drew one of them turning on the other, in a way. 'Cause that's just how I roll. One day it's all love and cuddles and comfort, then the next it's cruelty and pain and angst.

I may need to explain what I just wrote. See, I fully intended for this to be nonconsensual in nature, with Red forcing Purple... hence Red's claws around Purple's neck and Purple's fearful expression. Sadly, I do not think I was entirely successful with this. I couldn't quite manage to get that slightly playful look off of Red's face without making him... well, terrifying, to be frank. So no, maybe I'll save that sort of thing for another time. I could certainly toy with it some more, but I challenged myself to make this a one-night project (oh hush, I work slowly) after it began on a post-it note at work, as is the norm these days... and it's getting late, so I'm calling it done! That said, feel free to interpret it however you like.

Also, I can't remember the last time I uploaded a digital piece here that was as rough and unpolished as this one is. That was exactly what I had in mind for it, but still... so tempted to pull it back into Photoshop and clean it up... must resist!
