Nine-Tailed Fox (Kyuubi no Kitsune)

Foxes are a common subject of Japanese folklore. Kitsune— the Japanese word for fox— are a type of spiritual entity, and the word kitsune is often translated as fox spirit. Stories depict kitsune as intelligent beings and as possessing magical abilities that increase with their age and wisdom. The more tails a kitsune has— they may have as many as nine— the older, wiser, and more powerful it is.

Ah yes, a little bit of rogue taxidermy. Sorry it's taken so long to get these pics up. This pretty boy was finished last week but I kept taking pictures and kept finding that I wasn't happy with how they turned out... though I can't blame it entirely on the camera, it really is time for a new one. I'm still not completely satisfied with these photos, but I'm tired of waiting to share this guy with the world. That said... behold the taxidermy kyuubi no kitsune, a personal project I'm very happy to have finally completed. The ninth tail is on the other side of the fox's body, fyi.
